National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan
The orchestra has been successfully performing for the 31st concert seasons. During its existence, the orchestra has performed thousands of concerts in Ufa, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian cities and European countries. Concerts with top-ranking foreign and Russian conductors and soloists, among them Vladimir Spivakov, Denis Matsuev, Sergei Roldugin, Irina Arkhipova, Nikolai Petrov and Dmitry Khvorostovsky, Zurab Sotkilava, Elena Obraztsova, Askar and Ildar Abdrazakov, Andrey Korobeinikov, Alexander Knyazev, Nikita Borisoglebsky, Boris Berezovsky, Ivan Pochekin, Alexander Sladkovsky, Vladislav Lavrik, Konstantin Orbelian and others have become highlights of the orchestra’s history.
Since 2018, the concept of development of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan has changed dramatically: a famous musician, People’s Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Artur Naziullin was invited to the position of Artistic Director and later General Director of the orchestra. Today the orchestra’s management is aimed to raise the level of classical symphonic music performance as much as possible and to attract musicians of federal and international level to join the orchestra. Thus, the orchestra has managed to invite to work one of the brightest young musicians — conductor Dmitry Kryukov — as its principal conductor.
The orchestra collaborates with Russia’s leading cultural institutions: the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic, the Saint Petersburg Music House and the Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation. For example, in 2021 the orchestra organized a grand event aimed at supporting young talents from all over the world — the III International Vladimir Spivakov Violin Competition, which is traditionally held in the capital of Bashkortostan, in Ufa, the maestro’s hometown.
One of the main vectors of the orchestra’s development is also the expansion of its artistic geography. In 2021 alone, the orchestra performed at four leading venues in Russia — the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Saydashev State Great Concert Hall, the Grand Halls of the D.D. Shostakovich St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonia and the Sverdlovsk Order of the Red Banner of Labor State Academic Philharmonic. In May 2022 the orchestra participated in the X International Open Arts Festival «Victory Day Dedicated», presenting the world premiere of David Krivitsky’s «War Cantata» at the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. In September 2022, the orchestra performed two major concerts in Moscow: on September 2, it performed at the opening ceremony of the V International Ildar Abdrazakov Festival at the Tchaikovsky Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, and on September 3, performing at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall together with People’s Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev, it opened the 101st concert season of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic. In December 2022 as well as in January and April 2023, the orchestra’s traditional tour around the Republic of Tatarstan took place. In May 2023, the orchestra took part in the Music festival «Denis Matsuev presents: Dialogue of Generations» dedicated to the 150th anniversary of S.V. Rachmaninoff, during which it performed five concert programmes with pianist Denis Matsuev in Ufa and Orenburg. Also in May 2023, as part of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic’s subscription «Orchestras of Russia. Masterpieces of Russian Symphonic Music», NSO RB successfully performed with pianist Ekaterina Mechetina and captivated the Moscow audience with the ancient rhythms of the ballet «The Rite of Spring» by Igor Stravinsky. In June 2023, the orchestra performed at the opening ceremony of the VI All-Russian Music Festival «Born by Russia» on the stage of the Grand hall of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky. Since 2015, the orchestra has been an annual participant in the large-scale open-air «Symphony Night», which is attended by more than 100,000 people.
The orchestra’s policy aimed at the development and success of world, Russian and national music allows the orchestra to remain a brand of the region’s classical symphonic music, promoting this field of art and representing the home region at both national and international levels.
